Fundraising is something you figure out yourself, you can put together bake sales or yard sales, if you are crafty you can make stuff and sell it.

Best advice I can give is to draft a letter telling a little about yourself and the trip you want to take. Let people know what you hope to learn and gain from the trip, as well as how much it costs. Then ask for any help or donation they can make ($5, $10, $20, $100). Anything helps. Then send that letter to all your family and friends. Emails are just as good now too. Have your parents or older relatives put it up at work as well or even ask if their jobs will give toward it (usually counts as tax write off for businesses). Another idea is to call your local paper and tell them about the trip you are hoping to take. Usually they will do an article about you in the local section and put something in where they can give to help.
Besides those, try and do small jobs around your area. Maybe neighbors would be willing to let you wash their car or cut lawns to put toward your trip. Most people are much more generous when they know the money is going toward a good cause.
I went to Australia back in 1995 and it was a 3 week trip for $4000. I managed to raise $2000 through these things and my parents were generous enough to cover the rest. Its worth the effort for the experience. Good luck!

My trip is 7,499. But all the alumni going on it got 1,000 off of the tuition.
